Fintan Sheerin

Head of School of Nursing & Midwifery, Trinity College

Fintan Sheerin is an Associate Professor in Intellectual Disability Nursing and Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery TCD. He has extensive experience of nursing across intellectual disability, spinal cord injury, urology and orthopaedics. His research has largely focused on accessibility and well–being, seeking to address the issues which impact on both. He leads the mental health component of IDS–TILDA and is guiding the analysis of data gathered to date and exploring the future focus of data in that regard. 

Fintan is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Centre for Disability Studies, School of Psychology, University College Dublin. He has also undertaken work alongside people who are seeking refuge and asylum and assisted in ad hoc refugee camps in Greece and France. He has published widely and spoken at many international conferences and has contributed to a number of books. He is a Member of the Royal Society of Biology and a professional biologist, Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Sciences, of NANDA–International and of the Royal Astronomical Society.
